The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party continues as a group within the National Working Committee has suspended the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, for allegedly being disloyal to the party.
Another faction of the NWC, aligned with Damagum, had previously suspended the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, for the same reason.
In a surprising turn of events, Ologunagba then announced the suspension of Damagum and Anyanwu. Ologunagba stated,
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has carefully reviewed the complaints against the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Illiya Damagum, and National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, especially regarding their actions against the party’s position in a legal case involving former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who switched from PDP to APC.”
“The NWC strongly condemns the disloyalty of the Acting National Chairman and National Secretary, which goes against the PDP Constitution and their Oath of Office. As a result, the NWC has suspended Damagum and Anyanwu from their positions and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.
They are barred from participating in any NWC activities until the investigation is complete.”
