Bandits carried out a deadly assault on the office of the National Park Service (NPS) in Oloka, located in the Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attack occurred on Tuesday night and resulted in the deaths of five NPS officials.
The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Wednesday. According to Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the assailants have not yet been identified.
Olayinka stated that the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, and other security chiefs are currently en route to the scene of the attack. In response, the Commissioner has deployed tactical teams, mobile police officers, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel to the area to prevent further violence and maintain order.
As of Wednesday, the bodies of the five victims had not been recovered, as they are believed to be within the nearby forest.
