Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, against actions he described as attempts to destabilise the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmad said Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu does not make him a member of the APC and warned that what he termed the “spirit” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should not be imported into the ruling party.
He made the remarks in response to the ongoing exchange between Wike and the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Writing on X, Ahmad said Basiru had already made it clear that Wike’s backing of the president does not automatically confer APC membership on him.
“Millions of Nigerians who are not members of the APC also support Mr President, and his case is no different,” Ahmad wrote.
He added that any attempt to destabilise the APC, particularly in Rivers State, would not be accepted, insisting that Wike could not impose PDP-style politics within the ruling party.
