Court Sentences Saltan to 10 Years, Orders Name in Sex Offenders Register

Posted on December 5, 2025

by Nigerian News24 Correspondents

The incident reportedly occurred on October 11, 2023, around 9:30 p.m. in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.

Saltan was first arraigned by the Lagos State Government on November 25, 2023, where he pleaded not guilty.
However, during later court sessions, prosecution witnesses gave evidence against him, leading to a plea bargain agreement reached on November 4, 2024.

At the resumed hearing, Saltan confirmed that he understood and accepted the terms of the plea bargain. His lawyer, Adegboyega, appealed for leniency, noting that Saltan lost his mother in infancy and had been learning shoemaking to build a better future.

But the state counsel, Bukola Okeowo, urged the court to strictly follow the plea agreement and requested that Saltan’s name be added to the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register, as required under the Sexual Offences Law (2015 amendment).

In his ruling, Justice Oshodi sentenced Saltan to 10 years’ imprisonment, to run concurrently from the date of his arrest on October 11, 2023. The court also ordered that his name be entered into the sex offenders’ register as mandated by law.
