Victor Fajemirokun, the boyfriend of the late Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her daughter, Sewa Lasisi, has confessed to luring them to their deaths at the hands of herbalists in Osun State.
Fajemirokun, 40, was paraded on Wednesday alongside two herbalists, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.
The Osogbo-based businessman said he brought Funmilayo and her daughter from Ogun State to Ijebu-Jesa, Osun, after an Islamic cleric told him that Funmilayo had used “spiritual manipulations” against him. Authorities suspect the 39-year-old officer and her daughter were killed in a ritualistic manner, with some body parts removed.
Funmilayo and Sewa were reported missing on the morning of Sunday, November 2, after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Fajemirokun admitted to journalists that he told his wife he was going for prayers in Ikoyi, Osun, and invited Funmilayo for what he claimed was spiritual cleansing. He explained that he met Daramola on TikTok, who told him that Funmilayo was the source of his misfortunes and needed to be dealt with.
Narrating the events, Fajemirokun said, “I went there with Funmilayo to Daramola’s place at Ijebu-Ijesa. The man told Funmilayo she had to perform rituals and instructed three men to take her to the bush. That is where we killed her. The daughter went with us. Afterward, I fled to a mountain in Ikoyi and then to Ibadan. It felt like I was hypnotized. I never truly wanted to do it. I only learned about the organ harvesting later from the news.”
One of the arrested herbalists, Sunday James, corroborated the killing, saying Daramola ordered him to slit their throats and cut up the woman. Daramola, however, claimed Fajemirokun instructed the killings but denied being present.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, stated that Fajemirokun initially went missing on November 2. Following investigations, Daramola was arrested on November 16 and confessed to the killings, implicating James and two others, Kehinde and Idowu. Funmilayo’s body was recovered from Esa-Odo Dam, Osun, on November 17, with vital parts missing. The daughter’s remains were recovered later from the bush.
Fajemirokun, who initially evaded arrest, was later apprehended in Ghana with Interpol’s assistance and repatriated to Nigeria. CP Gotan assured the public that all suspects would face court charges and efforts were ongoing to apprehend others still at large.
