Dangote Petroleum Refinery has affirmed its readiness to take full responsibility for Nigeria’s domestic petrol supply, committing to deliver 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) monthly—equivalent to 50 million litres per day—starting in December 2025.
In a letter dated November 30, 2025, addressed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and signed by CEO David Bird, the refinery requested the agency’s support in having officials onsite from December 1 to validate and publicly publish daily production and stock volumes across media platforms.
The refinery further stated that supply would increase to 1.7 billion litres per month (57 million litres daily) from February 2026. The initiative aims to enhance transparency and strengthen public confidence in the availability of domestic fuel.
The letter emphasized the need for smooth clearance of crude, feedstocks, and blending components, as well as uninterrupted lifting of petroleum products by vessel. Delays in vessel clearance, it noted, have continued to disrupt operations, raise costs, and affect consumers.
Bird wrote, “Dangote Refinery is ready and able to supply 1.5 billion litres of PMS per month (50 million litres/day) in December and January, followed by 1.7 billion litres per month (57 million litres/day) from February 2026 onwards. We seek your support to secure Nigeria’s domestic fuel security and abundance and allow the ‘Nigeria First’ policy to benefit all Nigerians.”
The letter added, “We invite NMDPRA officials to be onsite from December 1 to validate and publish our daily supply volumes. In the spirit of full transparency, we are prepared to make our production and stock volumes publicly available through online and print media. We also request unhindered support for the importation of crude, feedstocks, and blending components, as well as the lifting of products by vessel. Delays in vessel clearance continue to affect operations and add unnecessary costs.”
Dangote Refinery reiterated its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs and ensuring an abundant and reliable PMS supply.
