The Nigerian Army’s Department of Military Secretary (Army) has organised a sensitisation lecture on career planning and prospects for officers under the 81 Division Area of Responsibility.
The event, held on September 11, 2025, at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Outer Marina, Victoria Island, Lagos, was aimed at promoting professional growth and development within the Army.
In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, stressed the importance of deliberate career planning and management in the military. He encouraged officers to take full advantage of the session to better understand the opportunities and challenges that come with career advancement.
Delivering the lecture, the Military Secretary (Army), Major General Everest Okoro, spoke on critical aspects of career development, including career reviews, performance appraisals, promotions, postings, and continuous professional development.
The lecture featured an interactive session where participants engaged in discussions and received direct guidance from the Military Secretary.
According to the Nigerian Army, the initiative reflects its commitment to excellence, professionalism, and deliberate investment in the career progression of its personnel.
The event drew the participation of senior officers, including Commanders and Staff Officers from various formations, schools, and establishments across Lagos.
