Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has refuted claims that he has unveiled his political plans for the 2027 general elections.
Responding to speculations that trailed his appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Obasa clarified that he neither declared interest in the governorship race nor in a senatorial contest.
He explained that decisions about his political future, like that of other members, remain the prerogative of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.
“As a politician, you must wait for the hierarchy of the party to determine your next assignment — whether as a lawmaker, governor or senator,” he said. “People should not misinterpret the party’s direction. Our focus should be on moving the country forward. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is recording remarkable progress daily.”
Obasa stressed that while he is not leaving politics, he remains conscious of life after public office.
“Nigeria is our home, APC is our strength, and we are like a family. The party grows stronger every day,” he noted.
According to him, personal ambition must align with party discipline. “At some point, you cannot decide your next move alone. Whether it is Speaker, Deputy Governor, Governor, or Senator, it requires consultation and engagement with party leaders,” he added.
