Comfort Emmanson, the passenger involved in a recent altercation on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, on Thursday appeared before the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as investigations into the incident progress.
The NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development in a chat with Vanguard.
According to him, several NCAA directorates—including Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection—are jointly handling the probe to ensure a fair and transparent process.
“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other Ibom Air crew members involved in the incident. Later today, Comfort Emmanson, accompanied by her lawyer, will also meet with the Authority,” Achimugu earlier disclosed via X.
He later confirmed to Vanguard: “We have met with her. As we proceed, I will continue to provide updates.”
The altercation, which was captured in a viral video, escalated into a clash at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport.
Although Emmanson was initially charged to court and placed on a lifetime no-fly ban by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), the sanction was subsequently lifted and the case against her withdrawn.
