Buba Galadima, a prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has warned about the dangers of being outspoken in Nigeria’s political space.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Galadima reflected on his long political career, noting that sincerity and honesty often come with heavy personal and political consequences.
“In the Nigerian context, I am seen as the worst man—not because I am bad, but because the country does not appreciate people like me,” he said.
According to him, leaders who speak truth to power are usually sidelined and denied opportunities to hold positions of influence.
Galadima further revealed that his daughter, despite winning a councillorship seat, was denied her entitlements simply because of her relationship with him.
“This clearly demonstrates how vindictive Nigerian politics can be, where individuals are punished not for their actions but for their affiliations,” he added.
