Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, was the actual winner of the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State.

Amaechi made this claim during a discussion on X Space held on Saturday.

“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State,” he said. “But I don’t know how the results were changed.”

His remarks add a new dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding the outcome of the February 2023 election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner. According to INEC, the APC secured 231,591 votes in Rivers State, while the Labour Party received 175,071 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 88,468 votes.
