Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu will remove the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, once his political objectives in the South-South region are achieved.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Tuesday night, Lamido argued that Wike’s appointment was a strategic move by Tinubu aimed at consolidating political influence in the South-South.
“Tinubu was looking for someone who could help advance his political interests,” Lamido said. “Wike’s appointment was all about securing the South-South region for Tinubu.”
Lamido noted that with Rivers State already under Wike’s influence, and Tinubu making inroads into Akwa Ibom and Edo States, the President may soon consider Wike expendable.
“Once Tinubu feels the South-South is firmly under his control, Wike will become irrelevant — and he’ll remove him,” he said. “He was given the FCT portfolio for a specific purpose. Once that purpose is fulfilled, it’s over.”
