The Katsina State Government has approved ₦703 million for the reconstruction of perimeter fences and the installation of security barricades in 14 General Hospitals located in frontline Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Dr. Sani Magaji-Ingawa, during a press briefing on Thursday following the State Executive Council meeting in Katsina.

According to Magaji-Ingawa, the affected LGAs include Kankara, Malumfashi, Faskari, Jibia, Funtua, Kafur, Dandume, Musawa, Batsari, Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Danmusa, Katsina metropolis, and Amadi Rimi.

“These security upgrades are part of our administration’s broader strategy to protect health workers and patients in high-risk areas,” he said.

In addition, the council approved the upgrade of the Comprehensive Health Centre in Mai’adua LGA to a General Hospital at a cost of ₦1.3 billion.

Magaji-Ingawa also announced the approval of ₦18.5 billion for the construction of the Rafin Iya–Tashar Bawa–Sabuwa road. He said the road will improve security logistics, enhance agricultural distribution, and promote trade across the region.

“We’re taking concrete steps to connect communities, support farmers, and strengthen our state’s infrastructure for sustainable development,” he added.

Speaking at the briefing, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango, revealed that ₦747.3 million has been approved for the construction of a new Security Consultative Centre in Katsina.

He explained that the center will serve as a permanent venue for multi-agency coordination, strategic meetings, and security planning.

“This project is part of our wider security reform agenda. Once completed, it will be handed over to the Federal Government to function as a central hub for security operations across the state,” Salisu-Zango said.
