Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has confirmed that several individuals have been arrested in connection with the recent mass killings in Benue State. He assured the public that concrete steps are being taken to address the situation.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Thursday, General Musa revealed that security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police, are actively investigating the attacks.
Over 200 people were reportedly killed in Guma Local Government Area by suspected herdsmen in the past few days, sparking widespread outrage and concern.
“We are law-abiding individuals, so we have to be very sure of our actions. The fact that certain operations are not publicly announced doesn’t mean they aren’t happening,” Musa said. “The police have arrested several suspects, and various actions are underway. Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with the DSS and other stakeholders.”
He emphasized that all security forces are working closely to prevent further violence and restore peace in the affected region.
“It takes a lot of coordination and diligence, but every effort is being made to ensure these attacks come to an end,” he added.
