The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of a stun gun from Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, following his voluntary appearance for questioning over a viral video incident.
The video, which sparked public concern, showed the prominent cleric holding what appeared to be a firearm during a confrontation with another road user in Lagos. In response to the growing controversy, Pastor Adefarasin presented himself at the State Command Headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday.
According to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Adefarasin was interrogated by investigators and has since been released on bail pending the outcome of further investigations.
In an official statement shared on the Command’s X (formerly Twitter) account, Hundeyin clarified the nature of the object seen in the footage.
“The item recovered from Pastor Adefarasin is a stun gun—not a lethal weapon or conventional firearm, but a prohibited anti-riot device,” the statement read. “He voluntarily provided a cautionary statement to the police. While he has been granted bail, the investigation remains ongoing.”
Authorities have yet to disclose any potential legal implications tied to the possession or use of the stun gun.
