The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed that six people lost their lives in a bomb explosion in Gwabro village, Tangaza Local Government Area, on Sunday, June 8.
Police spokesperson Ahmad Rufai verified the casualty figure but did not provide further details about the incident, which occurred during Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
An eyewitness, Hashimu, reported that the blast happened in the afternoon as people were traveling between villages to visit loved ones—a common tradition during Eid celebrations.
Garzali Raka, an aide to the Tangaza Local Government Chairman, stated that the victims had been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
Local sources suspect that the Lakurawa terrorist group, known for attacks in Tangaza and Gudu Local Government Areas, may have planted the explosive.
Residents of affected communities have called on the government to take decisive action against the terrorists, who continue to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the region.
