18-Year-Old Apprentice Allegedly Impregnates 10 Girls in Five Months in Anambra

By Nigerian News24 staff

An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State has allegedly impregnated 10 girls within a span of five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl, according to the state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo.

The teenager was reportedly sent to learn a trade under a master. However, within just three months, he is said to have impregnated both his boss’s daughter and a female sales assistant. This resulted in his dismissal from the apprenticeship.

Commissioner Obinabo disclosed the case during a live broadcast on social media on Wednesday, expressing concern over the scale of the issue. She said the situation escalated after the boy returned to his village, where he allegedly impregnated eight more girls in the following two months.

“This case is beyond my capacity, which is why I’m appealing to the public for advice,” Obinabo said. “After just three months in apprenticeship, he had already impregnated two girls. Then, two months later, he impregnated eight others in his village.”

Obinabo also revealed that the boy’s mother visited her office to seek help. “The woman told me, ‘Anytime I see a girl approaching our house now, my heart jumps. I need help,’” she said.

When questioned about how he managed to convince the girls, the boy reportedly claimed he simply promised them love and marriage once he becomes financially successful.

Obinabo expressed deep concern about the implications of the case, given the boy’s age and the number of girls affected. “That’s why I’m asking the public—could this be spiritual? What can we do?”

She did not disclose the identities of the boy, his mother, or their community, but emphasized the need for urgent intervention and public input.
