Uzodimma: Southeast Gains More by Aligning with APC
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has stated that the Southeast region stands to benefit more from national development by aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at a meeting of Southeast APC leaders held in Enugu, Uzodimma urged party stakeholders to intensify efforts in growing the party’s membership by educating the public on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The meeting, aimed at strengthening the APC’s influence in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasized the importance of being part of mainstream national politics to secure greater democratic dividends for the Southeast.
In attendance were Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Uche Nnaji, and other regional party leaders.
Uzodimma told reporters after the meeting that the APC leadership in the Southeast had resolved to work collectively to make the party more dominant. He noted that closer alignment with the ruling party would bring the region nearer to the center of power.
“You can see how governors from other regions are joining the APC. For the Southeast to move closer to national influence, we must align with the party at the center,” he said.
He further expressed satisfaction with the number of key political figures from the Southeast currently serving under the APC-led federal administration, adding that the region would continue to build unity and political strength through collaboration.
