Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly reached a personal agreement with Manchester United over a potential move this summer, according to Turkish journalist Serdar Çelikler. However, any transfer remains contingent on negotiations between United and his parent club, Napoli.
“There’s an agreement with Manchester United on personal terms, but the club-to-club talks are still ongoing,” Çelikler shared during a podcast appearance.
Osimhen, currently enjoying a stellar loan spell at Galatasaray, has been in electrifying form, tallying 29 goals and six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. His performances have attracted interest from multiple clubs, with Manchester United seemingly at the front of the queue.
United are in the market for a proven striker, especially following a disappointing season from Rasmus Højlund, who has scored just three Premier League goals. New head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen on moving the Danish striker on this summer and securing a more clinical finisher.
Despite Osimhen’s €75 million (£63m) release clause, there are indications that Napoli may be open to negotiating a lower fee, particularly with Juventus — another admirer — unlikely to be entertained as a buyer due to their direct rivalry with the Naples-based side.
However, United’s pursuit of Osimhen may hinge on European qualification, with the Nigerian striker said to prefer Champions League football next season. If a deal cannot be finalized, the club is said to be considering backup options such as Liam Delap and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Further fueling speculation, Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük previously revealed that Manchester United had offered Osimhen a lucrative contract worth £660,000 per week before tax — a figure that would make him the highest earner at Old Trafford. The same report suggests both United and Juventus have tabled identical net offers of €20 million annually.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray remain hopeful of keeping Osimhen, though his reported demand of €15 million annually makes a permanent stay in Istanbul unlikely. The club’s vice-president, Ibrahim Hatipoğlu, acknowledged Osimhen’s impact but maintained there’s been no final decision.
“Osimhen said Galatasaray will always be in his heart, even if he leaves. But he didn’t say he’s leaving. We’d love him to stay,” Hatipoğlu said.
When asked about his future, the 25-year-old forward was noncommittal, stating, “There are always rumours about me. But I prefer to live in the moment. I’m enjoying myself right now — the club, the city, everything.”
Galatasaray are currently covering €6 million of Osimhen’s €10-11 million net annual salary during his loan from Napoli, who continue to pay the remainder.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether Manchester United can finalize a deal that would bring one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers to Old Trafford.
