In a decisive move to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, the Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered tramadol tablets valued at approximately ₦3.5 million.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abubakar Sadiq, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence.
“On March 20, 2025, at about 4:00 PM, operatives of the Command acted on a tip-off and arrested one Murtala Salisu, a 27-year-old resident of Bare-Bari village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State,” the statement read. “He was found in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.”
During interrogation, Salisu reportedly confessed that he obtained the drugs from an individual identified only as “Rabe” from Nasarawa State. He also named Tanimu Abubakar, a resident of Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State, as an accomplice. Both suspects have since been taken into custody and admitted to their involvement. Investigations are currently ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety across the state.
He also appealed to the public to continue providing timely and actionable information to assist law enforcement efforts in curbing crime in all its forms.
