DSS Arrests 2 Key Suspects in Murder of 16 Northerners in Edo.

Posted on April 2, 2025

A significant breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation into the gruesome murder of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State, with the arrest of two principal suspects by security operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS). The arrests, which were carried out in Uromi, were based on credible intelligence gathered by the security agency.

This development is a welcome relief to the families of the victims, who have been waiting for justice to be served. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had previously announced that 14 suspects were already in detention and being prepared for transfer to Abuja for further interrogation.

During a condolence visit to Kano State, Governor Okpebholo reassured the victims’ families that justice would be served and those involved in the killing would be brought to justice. He also pledged that adequate compensation would be paid to those who lost loved ones.

The arrest of the two principal suspects is a significant milestone in the investigation, and it is expected that their interrogation will reveal more information about the perpetrators of the heinous crime. The DSS has been working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder, and their efforts have yielded positive results.

The two suspects have been moved to Abuja, where they will face further questioning and prosecution by the appropriate authorities. The DSS will continue to work with other security agencies to ensure that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.

The Edo State Government has also pledged to support the families of the victims and ensure that they receive adequate compensation for their loss. The government has also assured the public that it will do everything possible to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and more updates are expected in the coming days. The public has been urged to remain calm and to cooperate with the security agencies as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
