Tragedy struck in the boxing world on Saturday as Nigerian boxer Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju lost his life during a boxing match in Ghana. Olanrewaju, a former national and West African light-heavyweight champion, was competing against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at the Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at Bukom Boxing Arena.

According to eyewitnesses, Olanrewaju suddenly lost consciousness during the bout and slumped in the ring. Despite being ahead on points before the incident, he unfortunately did not recover. A video circulating on social media shows the shocking moment he collapsed.

Olanrewaju was a highly respected figure in Nigerian boxing, holding both national and West African light-heavyweight titles during his illustrious career. His contributions to the sport have been widely recognized, and tributes have been pouring in from colleagues, fans, and sports officials who remember him for his dedication and impact on boxing in Nigeria and West Africa.
The boxing community is in mourning, and Olanrewaju’s legacy will be remembered for years to come.
