Tragedy struck in Edo State on Sunday when suspected kidnappers abducted the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a traditional ruler in the Igueben Local Government Area. The kidnappers ambushed the traditional ruler while he was commuting on a motorcycle, killing the motorcyclist, known as the Okada rider, in the process.

According to Moses Yamu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, others were also kidnapped, but the exact number is still unknown. The police have launched a rescue operation, deploying tactical teams and the Police Mobile Force to ensure the safe return of the victims and arrest the culprits.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Otimenyin, has ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s tactical teams to the area. The Area Commander is personally leading the operation on the ground
