The governor presented a budget of approximately 605 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
During the presentation of the Appropriation Bill, Governor Okpebholo stumbled while trying to announce the 605 billion figure.
Despite this momentary mistake, he continued his speech and highlighted key points of the proposal. A video of the incident circulated online and many Nigerians mocked him.
However, Tenebe claimed in a video shared online that Okpebholo’s errors were due to his innocence, unlike former Governor Godwin Obaseki.
According to the APC leader, Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have made such a mistake because they had embezzled billions.
In response, Ighodalo, through his lawyers, demanded an apology and retraction of the defamatory statement about stealing public funds amounting to billions. The PDP gubernatorial candidate warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in further legal action against Tenebe.
