Betty Edu Speaks Out After Being Left Out of President Tinubu’s Cabinet

Posted on October 28, 2024

Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has spoken out about her recent dismissal from office, claiming that false accusations were made against her.

In her first public statement since being removed by President Bola Tinubu, Edu asserted her innocence regarding the alleged fraudulent activities within her former ministry.

Edu shared her thoughts on her official X (formerly Twitter) account while celebrating her 38th birthday on Sunday, October 27.

She referred to herself as a “daughter of Zion” in her post, stating that attempts to tarnish her reputation would not succeed but instead result in her “elevation.”

She wrote, “Happy birthday to the woman Jesus Loves! Soon the world will see the glory of a great God! The lies told to destroy a daughter of Zion will lead to her elevation! Ask Joseph!”

It is important to note that the ministers who were dismissed on Wednesday include Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye from the Ministry of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John of Tourism; Prof. Tahir Mamman of Education; Abdullahi Mohammed Gwarzo of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim of Youth Development.

Betta Edu, who was in charge of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, had previously been suspended and was noticeably absent from recent cabinet activities.
