The Consul-General of South Africa in Nigeria, Prof. Bobby Moroe, announced that Nigerians applying for visas to South Africa will now receive them within seven days instead of the previous six-month processing period. This new expedited process requires applicants to submit photocopies of their passports with their applications and bring the original documents when called for.
Speaking at a recent event in Lagos, Moroe highlighted the trade volume between the two countries, noting that Nigeria had a trade surplus of $72.1 billion compared to South Africa’s $447 million. He explained that Nigeria’s exports of rubber, petroleum, and crude oil contributed to this surplus, while South Africa benefited from exports of magnetic rubber stoppers and other products.
Moroe emphasized the need for increased cooperation between Nigerian and South African companies to further enhance trade relations. He also mentioned the high demand for apples and pears in Nigeria, which contributed to the trade balance favoring Nigeria.
